Beyond Birth Midwifery Care is bridging the gap...

There is no doubt in my mind, as a Pediatrician, that the challenging transition into parenthood can be made easier with the guidance of a caring and experienced nurse-midwife.

In addition, because of the many delicately wonderful changes your baby will go through in the first few days of life, I am delighted to see Beyond Birth Midwifery Care is bridging the gap from the hospital to the doctor’s office.

I strongly encourage you
to take advantage
of these nurse-midwives'
compassion and expertise...

The transition from a pregnant mom to a mom with a newborn infant is a stressful time, and can prove critical in the health and well-being of an entire family. The traditional medical care system in our country seemingly abandons this transition to chance, and most families lack the close network of family or experience to pick up the pieces. The goal of Beyond Birth is to professionally address this time period, reducing the stress and allowing for a safe and smooth transition. This service may seem like a "luxury", but I strongly encourage you to take advantage of their compassion and expertise. I've known these nurse-midwives professionally for many years and am very pleased to see them together and offering such a valuable service.

...patients and their babies have benefited greatly...

My postpartum patients and their babies have benefited greatly from the home visits that these CNMs have provided for the past three years. Unanticipated problems have been discovered and the support that they have provided our mothers for breastfeeding and parenting issues has been invaluable.

The nurse-midwives at Beyond Birth Midwifery Care, LLC (Beyond Birth) perform a thorough assessment of the mom and new baby in the comfort of home. Our visit will offer the opportunity to identify and treat common maternal and newborn problems during a time when they might otherwise go unnoticed.

We will work closely with your providers so that you can have all of the support you need without leaving home. Beyond Birth will optimize the baby’s introduction to the world and the mother’s recovery after birth. We provide a holistic perspective and a wealth of information to all members of the family to assure a healthy start.

Clients of Beyond Birth Midwifery Care can expect a comprehensive exam for both the recently delivered mother and newborn baby. Our exams will screen for common maternal problems such as postpartum depression, high blood pressure, and infection of either vaginal lacerations or cesarean section wounds. The newborn exam will screen for common newborn problems such as jaundice, dehydration and poor weight gain.

In addition, the nurse-midwives at Beyond Birth assist with breastfeeding, providing instruction on appropriate latch, milk production and breast comfort.

Families can expect a better understanding of infant development which will assist in calming fussy babies and meeting general needs of the newborn.

Finally, our nurse-midwives are experts in the Boulder health care community and can refer you to a variety of resources to meet the needs of the entire family during the delicate transition from hospital to home.
